How Doulas Support Families

One of the most important choices you make in your life is who you want to have with you during the birth of your baby and later, supporting you during the postnatal period. Realising that you have choices and options will put you in control of your body and help you discover what model of birth that is right for you. We are here to support you in that process by providing information about the support and care offered by doulas.

Get The Answers You Need

We have put together a FAQ section where you will find the answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about doulas and by reading the Doula Stories, written by those who have chosen to have doulas support them, we hope you will get a better understanding of what it is that doulas do and discover the reasons why you should consider hiring one.

Amplifying The Voices of Women and Birthing People

We are active on your behalf politically too. Maternity services world-wide are often constructed from a medical perspective and supposed risks are taking up an ever-growing part, creating an environment that causes problems and leads to more stress, worry and complications for women and birthing people. This is despite the acknowledgement and extensive research that the more we can normalise birth, the better it is for everyone. The Doula Association is a force for change and we work to highlight and establish doula services so that women and birthing people can have a full range of birthing options available to them.
