You can apply EITHER for birth support or postnatal support from The Pay It Forward Programme. Details of what will be included in the service are listed below and the application form is at the bottom of this page.
We will get back to you within 7 working days to let you know if your application was successful or if we need further information.
If you do not fit our eligibility criteria, please go to The Doula Directory and search for doulas local to you and get in contact. Many work on a sliding scale and may be able to help you at a reduced rate if you are struggling financially but would like doula support.
What PIFP Birth Doula Support will include:
Antenatal session or sessions in the lead up to birth, over the phone or via zoom or other online platform or in person, as agreed between the doula and client
An on-call period beginning two weeks before the client's estimated birth date. They you are able to call any time of the day or night when you believe you are in labour and that the doula will support you and come to be with you when you have both agreed the time is right
The doula will support you at your birth and will leave when you have both agreed it is the right time to do so
If the doula is unable to attend the birth or needs to leave for any reason, they will do their best to find back up cover with another PIFP doula and will let you and The Doula Association know. The Doula Association and doula cannot accept liability for being unable to attend a birth due to unforeseen circumstances
The doula will help support your first feed
The doula will return for one postnatal visit to check on the new family and allow for time to talk about your birth and any postnatal concerns or questions you may have (this can be in person, over the phone or zoom as arranged by you and your doula)
When the support is complete you will need to fill in the client feedback form. If you need it, your doula can help you with this.
What PIFP Postnatal Doula Support will include:
Hours, times and days to be agreed with your doula. Minimum 3 hour sessions. There will be a maximum of 33 hours of support provided
The doula will confirm with you what services they are able/not able to provide e.g. light cleaning, cooking, breastfeeding support, help with newborn care, etc
If you need support outside of the doula's remit, they will help refer you or signpost you to appropriate local services or help
The doula will help you to make connections in your local area and can suggest support groups you may like to attend
